LOUGH DERG REGION
The Ballyfinboy River flows through the town on its way to Lough Derg, only 12 km to the west. Lough Derg is a large freshwater lake on the Shannon River, the longest river in both the UK and Ireland. Navigable over its full 40 km length, Lough Derg is hugely popular with pleasure cruisers as well as sailing, canoeing, and some of the best fishing Ireland has to offer.
